THE RIGHT USAGE OF CHLORINE TABLETS

  • Project Title
The right usage of Chlorine Tablets.

    Background
Diseases that are spread during monsoon are mostly water borne. Accumulation of water in slums promotes the growth of mosquitoes causing malaria and dengue. Typhoid, Diarrhoea and Jaundice are also common in many slum regions of Ahmedabad. Children are most susceptible to all these diseases.
Worldwide, almost 1.8 million children younger than 5 years of age die every year from water-borne diseases which comes to about 4,900 deaths per day. In India, Diarrhoea alone causes more than 1,600 deaths per day and 1.5 million children die every year because of water borne diseases. The water borne diseases are increasing among the slums in urban areas; a majority of which are at their peak during the monsoon season in Ahmedabad. Which creates a need for awareness on water borne diseases, there causes, symptoms and their prevention techniques among these people.

    Objective
Awareness on water borne diseases, their causes, symptoms and their prevention techniques among the slum dwellers through print based communication material in a simple manner which can be easily understood by the target audience.

    Slum dwellers and Link workers.

Centenary Stamp for Indian Science Congress

stamp
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh released specially designed stamp created by Dr. Tridha Gajjar, a faculty of the institute (NID), to celebrate the centenary year of Indian Science Congress (ISC) at New Delhi and presented it to the President Pranab Mukherjee.

The institute was approached by the department of Science and Technology and was asked to create a designed which symbolized the growth of the nation’s scientific temper. It took  over two months to design the basic draft and presented it to the ministry for their approval. Out of four concepts, this was selected.
The stamp shows the efforts of ISC in 100 years. Child considered to be tender, mouldable and represents future of India, is observing flower through magnifying lens. This shows his interest, curosity and attitude of knowing the world around him more closely with scientific temperament. In background is DNA structure, which represents the genetic change taken place in the parent gene and transferred to the child for scientific temper, because of continuous efforts of ISC in 100 years. The logo of Indian Science Congress is also depicted.

Philosophy of life

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. In everyone’s life, there comes a hard time when we have to stand alone. At that time also we must be confident enough not to find an easy way and settle for a compromise. Be thankful for the difficult times because during those times we learn & grow. Limitations in life give us opportunities for improvement. We should be capable of rearranging our priorities to achieve final goal in life. We should work hard and focus at what we like to do and should try to overcome all obstacles.
For me my family is the most important part of my life because it gives me tremendous strength and inspiration to work. Teaching gives me immense pleasure and inner satisfaction.
Our past is a series of lessons that advance us to higher levels of living, giving & forgiving. We went through exactly the experiences we need to, to become who we are today. We can make of our life, the way we wish.
